My Island, the Land of Sunshine is Jamaica—one of the islands in the Caribbean Sea. It is ranked as one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. Relaxing moments on the white sandy beaches of the island’s north coast have attracted thousands of visitors all year round. This tropical island entices one to visit—for excitement, relaxation and peace of mind.

Beverly E. Dyer-Groves, a native of Jamaica West Indies brings her first book of poems into print after living on the island for over thirty years and residing in America for the past nineteen years. Her learning experiences and love of writing have inspired her to express her thoughts and feelings through poetry.

Beverly E. Dyer-Groves was born in Clarendon, Jamaica West Indies. She is a graduate of Moneague Teachers’ College in 1980 with a Teachers’ Certificate.

A poem inside the collection, “Jamaica the Land I Love,” entices one to visit or enjoy a little of paradise on earth while reading for pleasure. Even if one cannot be in Jamaica, My Island will provide an inspiration to take a fun vacation.
